Thank You

Dear God,
It has been 20 months since we first came to You with our request to have children. In the course of the past 20 months, we have experienced every emotion possible. We have been hopeful, anxious, excited, and unsure. We experienced the sheer joy of a positive pregnancy test and seeing our little baby on an ultrasound. We felt your strong presence as our baby's heartbeat thumped loudly through the monitor. We have hurt with the depth that few understand by experiencing the loss of that child. Since then, we've experienced hope, anticipation, disappointment, and more sadness. Through it all, you have been here with us. With all sincerity and gratefulness, we say thank you. Thank you for helping us grow closer as a couple. We have experienced greater highs and lows then ever before and it has led us to a place of deeper intimacy and understanding. We have cried together, laughed together, prayed together and hoped together. We thank you also for all the things that we would not have been able to do had our plans worked out instead of yours. Thank you for our second honeymoon to Cabo San Lucas. Thank you for my amazing new job at the church. Thank you for the time that we're able to spend with our niece and nephew. None of these things would have been possible had we been able to keep the baby you sent.

Most importantly, thank you for drawing us near to you. Instead of becoming angry and resentful, you showed us that we would never get through this difficult time without leaning fully on YOU and allowing your grace and mercy to pour over us. Thank you for showing us the true nature of who you are...our Abba, Father. Thank you for wrapping your loving arms around me on those nights when the tears would not stop. Thank you for letting us know exactly how to support each other through this. Thank you for the friends and family that you sent to love on us.

Father, please forgive those who have hurt us with insensitivity, we know none of them meant to be hurtful. As we continue on this path, please continue to draw us closer to you and guide us in all that we do.

We know your perspective is much greater than ours and we look forward to seeing how your plan for our future family unfolds because we know that you have great plans for us, plans not to harm us but to give us a hope and a future. Thank you for who you are and for what you've given us....perspective and hope. We love you.
